Packaging tin cocoa from W.J.Boon & Compagnon de Ruyter, vintage
A packaging tin for cocoa from W.J. Boon & Compagnon from Wormerveer. The company, the cocoa mill, was one of the large cocoa mills in the Zaan region. Now the brand name is De Ruiter. The contents were 1/2 kg. It is a square can with rounded corners, on the front you can see the name and logo. On another side you will find a winter picture with a horse-drawn sleigh and a lady offering cups of chocolate milk. ON the back of the cocoa can you can see the factory mark of the De Ruiter steam factory. The circles are the medals they have won for cocoa quality. Then there is another side where you see a man with a child with two windmills in the background. On top of the lid, which is rusty, you can see the coat of arms for the Royal Supplier to H.M. Queen Widow (Queen Emma). The cocoa packaging tin is a bit rusty, but some sides of the tin still look nice and the tin is of course used and from the year 1890-1910, truly antique!
